High Vibe Live: Music Taste Matters

Creative Direction · Visual Design

Overview

The Client contacted me for branding for their business. They desired a fresh, consistent presence. As most High Vibe Live’s target market are engaged on social media and online, the immediate focus is strong messaging through those channels.

Outcome

Over the later months High Vibe Live’s social media following gained by 10%. I designed a colorful, recognizable brand. They can now concentrate on everyday operations. Ticket sales generated by 5% each event of the months’ time.

Impact

Since the summer of 2017 High Vibe Live has grown to be a distinct brand in Central Texas. They have been able to secure venues and bring on 3 to 4 shows a month with an increasing presence. High Vibe Live has developed into a staple on San Antonio’s legendary North St. Mary Strip with events and parties.

Priority focuses are as follows:

  • Analyze current social media and online content to find successes.
  • Build a significant brand distinguishable from competition.
  • Reach new customers using digital marketing techniques.

Discovery Process

I started with conducting research on who attend these shows and how they found each event and I also examined other show promoters in three markets (Austin, San Antonio and Houston). I noticed they used Instagram and Twitter engaged with their base. I then visited two of High Vibe Live’s events and talk to people there.

From what I noticed most people were just there unwind, drank, and hang out with their friends. I sat with the client and proposed several penetrating questions to figure out who was his ideal customer. From that information I built two user personas, one being his present customer and the other being the ideal customer he wished to gain. Next I went into creating a mood board based on what the client told me.

Social Media Consistency

I researched other competitors like High Vibe Live and noted the branding inconsistency. I turned my focus to constructing a consistent style across social media platforms.

Music Taste Matters

One thing I brought to them was to create more engaging content for social media. I noticed while looking at other competitors that it wasn’t consistent branding or content to engage with followers. So I created a video series with fun captions in hopes to increase engagement on social media. this became something that the audience looked forward to and over time followers suggested their own music for posting.

All About Flyers

Most of the time we had weekly events, so there was always marketing materials that were needed to be done for social media. I created a color palette tailored to all the different events that were happening. Verner Panton was a big influence on the look and feel for each of the flyers.

Connecting With People Thru Music

The relationship between music and people is something that the client definitely wanted to focus on. One of the ways I illustrate this was to record the DJs performance and put it out on SoundCloud for people to listen back. We also got exclusive DJ mixes for promotional purposes. I felt it was a good way for people to interact with the brand and when they’re not at a show, they can still get the same high vibe energy.
